BIO

Gustavo Jabbaz, a passionate photographer, has always been drawn to the vibrant urban landscapes of Toronto. His artistic journey began early, as he delved into the art of photography, initially teaching himself to develop and print black-and-white photographs. In 1998, he embraced the digital era with his first camera and has remained dedicated to this medium ever since.

As an emerging artist, Gustavo primarily focuses on creating composite images. He artfully crafts digital collages using photographs of urban scenes, pedestrians, and occasionally portraits. His process involves capturing the visual allure of a location or structure and then amplifying it to dominate one's field of vision, thereby creating captivating and immersive artwork.

Gustavo's artistic endeavours have gained recognition through various exhibitions and contributions to the photography community. In 2019, he held his inaugural solo show at the Gallery 44 Member's Gallery. For two consecutive years, in 2019 and 2020, he actively participated in the Spectra group, showcasing his work during the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival. He not only exhibited but also spearheaded publicity efforts for Spectra.

Furthermore, Gustavo's commitment to the art world is reflected in his involvement with the RMG Exposed photography auction at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, where he contributed his work in 2017, 2018, and 2020. In 2020, he was a featured artist in the VAM42 Juried Show of Fine Arts at The Art Gallery of Mississauga.

As Board Secretary, Gustavo Jabbaz serves on the Board of Directors at Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography. Additionally, he actively participates in the Membership and Facilities Committee, contributing his expertise and passion to the growth of the art and photography scene.

Gustavo Jabbaz continues to capture the essence of urban life in Toronto, pushing the boundaries of photography and digital artistry. His work reflects his artistic vision and dedication to fostering the creative community.
